Purpose before compression
Chat and emoji use different dimensions and byte targets.
Create a GIF for chat or a 128 × 128 animated emoji, then download only after the actual output passes the selected Discord checks.
One GIF · up to 25 MB · up to 300 frames
Choose a Discord preset, then add one GIF.
Chat and emoji use different dimensions and byte targets.
The finished GIF is reopened and checked before download.
The full optimization loop runs on your device.
Choose the upload destination first so the tool can solve for the right constraints.
Select Chat GIF for a safe attachment target or Animated Emoji for Discord’s square emoji requirements.
Tanumi reads the real GIF locally and checks its source size, dimensions and frame complexity.
For an emoji, move the square crop toward the subject. Chat GIFs keep their original framing unless scaling is needed.
Tanumi tests progressively smaller encodes and only marks the result ready after the finished bytes and dimensions pass.
A generic quality button cannot promise an upload will fit. Tanumi encodes, measures and tries a stricter combination only when the result is still too large.
The green result state means the downloadable file passed every listed technical check.
Discord’s current non-Nitro attachment limit is 20 MB. Tanumi’s Chat GIF preset targets 19.9 MB to leave a small safety margin; higher limits may apply to paid plans or selected users.
The uploaded file must be a GIF. Tanumi exports it at 128 × 128 and targets below 250 KB, leaving safety room beneath Discord’s 256 KB file limit.
The tool progressively reduces colors, dimensions or frames until the encoded file passes. If a browser cannot produce a compliant result, it shows an error instead of labeling the output ready.
GIF has a limited color palette. Reaching a strict byte target may require fewer colors, smaller chat dimensions or fewer animation frames while preserving the total duration.
No. Discord animated stickers require APNG at 320 × 320, not GIF. This page supports chat GIFs and animated emoji only.
It confirms the file properties Tanumi can measure. You still need permission to manage emoji, an available server slot, a valid emoji name and content that follows Discord’s rules.
No. Decoding, crop, optimization, re-encoding and output validation happen locally in a browser worker.
